On the Fringe: A Zine of Text and Image

from Ithaca's unhoused and sheltered neighbors and allies

The contents of this zine were created in workshops at Saint John's Community Services, submitted by individuals, and gathered during interviews. These pieces address day-to-day living, loss, and how people are remembered after death; mind and body, including mental health and addition; and perspectives of change. In this publication, Ithaca's unhoused people speak for themselves, through their words and art. And we think that's the power of stories, poems, and visual art: to provide an entrance into others' thoughts and experiences--or, to start a conversation.

Through a community fundraiser, color copies were printed and bound for participants and black and white copies for the community. To request a copy, please email laura@illuminatedpress.org

The entire zine can be viewed online for free
here at Google Books.

This project was made possible in part with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts, administered by the Community Arts Partnership of Tompkins County.
